A patio is a home improvement which makes for a nice and beautiful addition to your yard. It is a good alternative entertaining area for your guests and an option for an unconventional family room where family members could gather for bonding. At this point, you should already have a pattern in mind that will also go well with its surroundings and platform style. How you place the brick or stone would affect the overall appearance of your work, that's why you must take the time to deliberate on this. If you're using bricks, how you slate them on the ground can have a big impact on the final outcome of your patio. If you're planning to do the project yourself, a simple design using bricks which requires no cutting would be best recommended for you. Notwithstanding its simplicity, it would still look elegant if you lay the bricks in such a way that would generate an eye-catching pattern. You must remember though never to directly kneel on the bricks or sand when you are laying the bricks on a sand-based patio. You might dislodge or dislocate the bricks.

For tiny patios, it would be best to stick to rectangular plans. To diminish the jagged edge of the lines, you can opt to place container gardens along the perimeter. A curved design would be most beneficial to a larger patio. However, you might need to cut bricks to enable you to do this. You can also enhance the general appearance of your patio by placing a removable or fixed fountain, shrubs or other furniture in the site.
